Romulan gets its name from the hostile alien race in Star Trek, and as you would expect, its origins are just as unique and mysterious. It’s a fitting history, as outer space is the perfect backdrop for this indica strain out of British Columbia. Topping out at 20-25% THC, Romulan is quite potent. Although its origins remain mysterious, it is rumoured to be descended from landrace Indica seeds smuggled out of North Korea during the war – it is thus nearly a pure indica, with a small admixture due to breeding with the white rhino strain, which was then backcrossed with itself. It produces a deeply relaxed body high with a dreamy, floating sensation. Like all Indicas, Romulan can be effective at treating anxiety, though it’s best for pain. It’s also used to treat depression and lack of appetite. Although consumers report similar effects to other indicas, note that due to its unique genetics, the smell and taste are different from the usual Hindu kush and Afghani-descended Indicas that most are accustomed to. This rare strain is fairly popular in legal markets in the American West, but is less-known elsewhere. Romulan rates well among users, and it’s a favorite of many medical marijuana patients.
